STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR – Prior to immigrating to the US in 2018, Martina lived in Israel for over 10 years where she earned a B.A. in Government, Diplomacy, and Strategy with a minor in Counter-terrorism and International Affairs and an M.A in Diplomacy and Conflict Studies. Martina served in the Israeli Defense Forces Spokesperson’s Unit as the Head of the Spanish Media Department, where she founded the IDF’s Spanish-language presence online and with international media partners such as AP, AFP, Reuters, and more.
Upon her release from active duty, Martina held a number of Marketing and Communications roles both in the start-up world and beyond. Martina currently serves as the Associate Director of Communications and Media Relations at Latino Network, a Portland nonprofit serving the Latino community in the tri-county area. At Latino Network, Martina is the force behind all marketing and communications strategies intended to educate the public and raise awareness on the issues that affect the lives of Latinos in the region. Storytelling is Martina’s true passion, and as she says, “there is a great difference between a messenger and a storyteller”, the stories Martina focuses on bringing to light the intricacies of our communities and shed a light on the many issues that affect Oregonians today.
When Martina isn’t drafting strategic communications plans, press releases, and blog posts, she is spending time with her husband Richard, a native Oregonian, and her dogs Marley and Chicha.
